Choosing outfits doesn’t have to feel overwhelming—I’m here to make it simple. The goal is to feel confident, comfortable, and like yourself while creating timeless images you’ll love for years to come.
Start with One Main Outfit
For couples or families, start by choosing one main outfit first. This is often the easiest way to set the tone for the rest of your session. Choose something you feel beautiful and confident in—flowy dresses, soft textures, and neutral tones always photograph effortlessly, but don't be afraid of pops of colors!
From there, build everyone else’s outfits around it so everything feels cohesive.
Build a Soft, Cohesive Color Palette
A soft, neutral palette—think creams, whites, and beige—creates a timeless, effortless look. While this is always a beautiful foundation, your session should feel personal and true to you.
Thoughtful pops of color that complement each other can elevate your look while still keeping everything cohesive and natural.
Coordinate, Don't Match
Instead of everyone wearing the same outfit, choose pieces that complement each other. Mixing tones and textures (like knits, linen, and cotton) adds depth without feeling busy. As adorable as matching outfits are they blend together!
Keep It Simple
Avoid large logos, neon colors, and bold patterns. These can distract from what matters most—your connection and emotion. Don't be completely scared of patterns though! Just don't mix a whole bunch of patterns together.
Choose Movement & Comfort
Flowy dresses, skirts, layers, and soft fabrics add beautiful movement to your images. Most importantly, make sure you’re comfortable—when you feel good, it shows.
Dress for the Season
Layers for cooler sessions and breathable fabrics for warmer days help everything feel natural, relaxed, and effortless. And in Minnesota… well, we all know the weather likes to keep us guessing—you might start the day in sunshine and end it wondering if you need a sweater, a coat, and a backup plan.
Final Thoughts
The most important thing is that your session feels like you. When you feel confident and comfortable, that’s what truly makes your photos come to life.
